Beds are what people actually notice

Turf gets the attention, but the beds along the front of the house are what a visitor sees from ten feet away. Crisp edges, even mulch depth, and shrubs shaped to the house are the difference between a maintained property and one that just got mowed.

The work also protects the plants. Two to three inches of hardwood mulch holds soil moisture through a dry Michigan August, moderates root temperature, and cuts weed pressure dramatically compared to bare bed soil.

Done once, done right

Every bed job starts with prep: weeds pulled at the root, old matted mulch broken up, and the edge cut back to a clean spade line. Skipping that step is why some mulch jobs look tired again by July.

Then mulch goes down at consistent depth, kept off shrub stems and tree trunks so nothing rots at the base. Everything we cut or pull leaves with us.

Frequently asked questions

How much mulch does my bed need?
A refresh is usually two inches, a first install closer to three. We measure the beds and quote by the yard so you are not guessing.
When should shrubs be trimmed?
Most shrubs take well to a trim in late spring after the first flush of growth, with a lighter shaping pass late summer. Spring bloomers get trimmed right after they finish flowering so you do not cut off next year's buds.
Do you haul away the debris?
Always. Clippings, brush, and old bed debris get loaded and hauled off. Nothing is left piled behind the garage.
Do you do landscape design and planting?
We handle the labor-intensive maintenance work — mulch, trimming, clearing, and bed refreshes. Full design-build installs are outside what we take on.
